What Happened to the Weekly Roundup?

What Happened to the Weekly Roundup?

I (Chris) have been asked this question a number of times since there was a missing episode.  Well, there are a few reasons and if you’ll indulge me I’ll explain them.

First, if you’re not aware of what the Weekly Roundup podcast is it’s a weekly show where I did a rundown on all the new Image books for that particular week. Nothing more than that.  I started it in October and it was going to run 8 episodes (October through November) and then take December off and possibly come back in January with a full weekly schedule for 2013.

Now that you know what it is (if you didn’t already) I can explain that there were some scheduling issues with the show.  Not on my part of recording it, but on the way the show would be posted.  We post the MP3s of the podcasts to Libsyn.com where we have a certain amount of monthly space we’re allocated.  Once a show has been up for 30 days it gets archived on Libsyn and that space becomes “available” to use again.  The listener does not notice any of this, but it’s the “how the sausage is made” stuff you need to understand.

We host the MP3 files for Image Addiction and the two shows The Process guys do.  Well, between all of us we were cranking out a bunch of new shows during October and we kept filling up our allocated space that we pay for.  I think that’s awesome when we post so much new content, but it kept me from posting new episodes of Weekly Roundup.  I would rather post new episodes of Image Addiction, The Process, and Sensation Spectacular than Weekly Roundup.  That being the case, I actually had to buy more space for us to just post those three shows. Crazy! And awesome, too.

All of that being said, Weekly Roundup got put back up on the shelf. I didn’t want to do it one week and then not do it for two or three weeks.  I’d rather put it on the shelf, organize release dates for all of the shows, and then manage it from there.  Again, nothing all of you should be concerned about, but with getting asked a few times I thought I should let everyone know we haven’t killed the show it just needed to sit back and let the other awesomeness happen.

So, when should you see the Weekly Roundup return? The goal is to re-launch it January 3, 2013 which is just a little over a month away.  I look forward to getting back into recording the show and I hope you enjoy listening to it!

Thanks!
Chris

Image Addiction’s Weekly Round Up!

If you’re a following the main podcast feed you probably noticed an announcement about a supplementary podcast to the Image Addiction review podcast called “The Weekly Round Up”.  Not an inspiring name for sure, but one that gets the point across.

Starting October 1, the IA grew will be bringing you, the Image Comics fans, a podcast covering all of that week’s upcoming Image Comics new releases.  We give a run down of the single issues, the collected editions, the new printings of recently sold out issues, and anything else that we feel is related to the new release list.

This new podcast will be on it’s own separate feed (which you can find at the end of this blog post) and a new iTunes feed (again, at the bottom of this post) so be sure to subscribe to it and keep up with all of the new releases from Image Comics.

This supplemental podcast is going to run a trial run through October and November so your involvement is crucial to determine if we’ll continue with it’s production.  What we’re looking for each episode is for feedback on the books you’re picking up as well as the show itself.  We want to make sure this new show helps YOU so let us know what you think of it by posting in the comments section as well as emailing us at imageaddictionpodcast@gmail.com.  If the feedback and interest is there we’ll continue to do this show for all of you to enjoy and to help you keep up with what’s hitting your comic shops each week.

Wildstorm Addiction Joins the IA Network!

Well, I teased a little over the weekend that we would have a bit of news today.  Wildstorm Addiction (http://www.wildstormaddiction.com/) is joining the Image Addiction Podcast Network!  Joe and Ben are old friends to the Image Addiction podcast and were originally part of the Comic Addiction network of podcasts when Comic Addiction was still up and running.  We’re extremely excited to have Joe and Ben as part of the IA Family and looking forward to working with them.

We’ll begin posting new episodes with their latest episode in a couple of weeks.  If you have not have an opportunity to listen to Wildstorm Addiction, just over to their site and give them a listen.

We’re The “All-New” All-New Image Addiction

Wow. What a week. If you people only knew what had been going on behind the scenes here at Image Addiction Central you would probably be laughing at us, or at least pointing and snickering a bit.  Either way, we’re glad you’ve come by the site and we hope you’re digging our new look.  It’s a little different and a bit brighter than the last site design and I think that’s reflective of our attitude toward comics and podcasting.

Things are changing a little here at Image Addiction to help us focus more on the comics and the podcast and we hope that in turn makes all of you enjoy the podcast more.  You probably have noticed that the only thing (other than this blog) that’s being seen on the site are all of the podcasts.  Yep. We’ve removed all of the previews, press releases, and reviews from the site to clean things up and refocus our energies into making the podcast the best it can be.  We enjoyed having all of that extra content on the site because it seemed that a number of you (Google Image Search) enjoyed having all of that up, too, but it was getting a little out of hand.  There’s no real need to get into the details other than if we can give all of you 110% on the site’s content as well as the podcast we felt we had to choose which would be better for us as well as you the listeners and readers.  We chose the podcast. We hope we made the right decisions!

Our goal continues to bring all of you, the Image Comics’ fans, the best fan podcast we can possibly bring you and do that on a bi-weekly basis.  We’ll continue to have our reviews of the comics as well as interviewing creators, but more importantly we’re going to continue to have fun doing this podcast.  We hope you’ll continue to come by the site for new episodes of The Process, The Avengelyne Podcast, The Savage FinCast, and Image Addiction’s own podcast.  We hope you tell  your friends and everyone at your local comic shops.
