THIEF OF THIEVES GETS FOURTH PRINTING

Robert Kirkman series continues strong The Image Comics/Skybound series THIEF OF THIEVES, Robert Kirkman’s cinematic crime comic has no zombies, no superheroes, and no larger-than-life arsenal — and it has become one of the best-selling independent comics hits of the year. The first three issues are now entering their fourth printings, with the fourth issue not far behind with a third printing. With a story overseen by Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE), scripts by Nick Spencer (MORNING GLORIES) and art by Shawn Martinbrough, THIEF OF THIEVES is the story of a master thief, “Redmond,” who tries to leave a life of...

REVIEW: Spawn #219 May06

REVIEW: Spawn #219

The latest issue provides a conclusion to the battle between Spawn and Malebolgia that began in “The Gathering Storm” story arc.  Since Al Simmons’ death and the introduction of Jim Downing in #185 Todd McFarlane and Jon Goff have been leaving bread crumbs for readers, but with this latest arc, they’ve really ramped things up by answering more and more of the lingering questions surrounding the new Spawn and his supporting cast.  This issue is no exception, as it brings some closure to the question of who the new Spawn is – though at the same time, it’s made obvious that we’ve only scratched...

REVIEW: Supreme #64 May03

REVIEW: Supreme #64

With issue 64, Erik Larsen tackles the unenviable task of picking up Supreme where Alan Moore’s fan-favorite run with the title leaves off.  Larsen does a good job of transitioning from Moore’s panel-heavy, almost stuffy, style, to his own take on the book.  It’s immediately evident that this is not Moore’s Supreme when the issue opens with a splash page, immediately followed by a double-splash, and has another 4 splash pages scattered throughout the 20 page story.  All of that is not to say that a lot doesn’t happen in this issue, but that there’s a bit more breathing space in the script than Moore...
